They are spacious, yet cosy, with full
under floor heating and wood burning
stoves in the open plan living areas.
Both houses have spacious saunas, and
luxury freestanding baths.

THE TWO ULLAPOOL MARBLES
Built by ourselves, Gavin and Rachel Anderson, and a team of local crafts people and
artisans, the houses were designed by a local Hebridean architect (Stuart Bagshaw)
with the aim of bringing together traditional building techniques with modern design
and environmental considerations.

The Stonehouses are cocooned with
recycled insulation (wood fibre in the walls
and ceilings and, believe it or not, recycled
car windscreen insulation in the floor).

They are fully underfloor heated by
air-source heat pumps with solar water
heating and an LPG backup to ensure that
you are never low on piping hot water.

The wood burning stove provides a warming
focal point in the living space. Whilst the
natural building materials (local wood and
stone) and the green turf roof allow the
buildings to merge with their surroundings.
